Privacy Notice

Effective 8 September 2026.

1. Who this notice covers

This notice explains how yonderun.com ("Yonderun", "this site") handles personal information. Yonderun is operated by an individual, Ryan Lim, of 99 Spring St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia. Ryan Lim is the person responsible for the site and for the handling of personal information described below, and is reachable at editor@yonderun.com or by phone at +61 3 9650 0001. Yonderun is not operated by a company, and there is no separate corporate entity behind it.

This site is written and operated with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as a guide, and applies that standard to everyone who visits the site, not only visitors in Australia.

2. Information we do not collect

It's easier to start with what this site doesn't do. Yonderun has no user accounts, no sign-up or login of any kind, no contact form, no newsletter or subscription mechanism, no push notifications, and no search box that would send a query anywhere. There is nothing to type into the site itself — the only way to send information to the site operator is by writing directly to the email address above, which is a normal email, handled the same way as any other message sent to that inbox.

3. Information collected automatically

Like effectively every website, Yonderun's hosting and content-delivery infrastructure automatically processes some technical information as part of serving each page: the requesting IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page (if any), an approximate location derived from the IP address, and the date and time of the request. This is standard web server and content-delivery-network log data. It's collected because it's reasonably necessary to run and secure the site (consistent with APP 3) — to keep pages loading correctly, to detect and block abusive traffic, and to understand basic aggregate usage such as which pages are requested. It is not linked to any account, because no accounts exist.

4. Cloudflare and cross-border processing

Yonderun is served through Cloudflare, a content-delivery and security network. Cloudflare processes the connection-level data described in section 3 on our behalf, and its infrastructure is global, which means some of that processing may take place outside Australia. Cloudflare may also run a lightweight, cookie-free analytics beacon that reports aggregated technical metrics — page URLs, referrers, Core Web Vitals performance figures, and coarse device and country-level information — without placing an identifying cookie on your browser. Where information is handled outside Australia in this way, we rely on Cloudflare's own security and data-protection commitments as the reasonable steps taken to protect that information, consistent with APP 8. Yonderun does not itself operate servers outside the arrangement described here, and does not sell or share this technical data with advertisers.

5. How we use this information

The technical information described above is used only to operate, secure and maintain the site: serving pages correctly, identifying and mitigating malicious traffic, and understanding in aggregate which parts of the catalogue get read. It is not used to build advertising profiles, it is not sold, and it is not shared with any analytics or advertising network beyond the Cloudflare processing described in section 4.

6. Cookies and browser storage

Yonderun does not set its own cookies. The site does use one piece of browser storage — a single localStorage entry that remembers whether you clicked "Accept" or "Decline" on the cookie notice banner, so the banner doesn't reappear on every page. That value stays on your device, is never sent to our server, and is described in full, along with anything Cloudflare may set, in the separate Cookie Notice.

7. Disclosure of information

The only recipients of the technical information described above are: Cloudflare, acting as our content-delivery and security provider, and our hosting provider, which stores and serves the site's files. Neither is an advertising or analytics vendor in the sense of building profiles for marketing purposes. We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it to any other third party.

8. Data retention

Server and content-delivery logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the security and operational purposes described above, and are not kept indefinitely. Emails sent to the contact address are kept for as long as needed to handle the matter raised and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow-up.

9. Your rights under the Privacy Act

Because Yonderun collects almost no personal information beyond standard connection logs, there is little to access or correct in most cases. If you believe we hold personal information about you — for example, in an email you've sent to the contact address — you can ask to access or correct it by writing to editor@yonderun.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time and, where a request can't be met in full, explain why.

10. Children

Yonderun is a general-audience game review site and is not directed at, or knowingly collecting information from, children. Because the site has no accounts or forms, no personal information is knowingly collected from any visitor, including children.

11. Security

Reasonable technical steps are taken to protect the site and its infrastructure, including serving the site exclusively over HTTPS via Cloudflare's network and limiting who has administrative access to the hosting and domain configuration. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but no data more sensitive than standard connection logs is handled by this site in the first place.

12. Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the site or to applicable law. The date below always reflects the most recent version, and material changes will be reflected in that date rather than being announced separately, since the site has no subscriber list to announce them to.

Last updated: 8 September 2026.

13. Complaints

If you have a concern about how this site handles personal information, please write to editor@yonderun.com first so it can be addressed directly. If you're not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001, Australia, or online at oaic.gov.au.
